Goodman secures 20,000 sq ft letting at Gloucester Business Park

15 December 2009

Global property group, Goodman, has let 20,000 sq ft to Horizon Nuclear Power, a joint venture between RWE npower and E.ON UK, at Gloucester Business Park. The company began operations in November working from its new self contained building at Valiant Court, the latest phase on the 276-acre site.

Horizon Nuclear Power will have an initial focus on consenting and constructing new nuclear power stations which will have a 60 year lifetime and form a key part of Britain’s low carbon future, helping to achieve the UK’s stretching environmental targets. The 50:50 joint venture was created in January 2009 and aims to develop around 6,000MW of new nuclear capacity in the UK – enough to power a city the size of Greater London – by 2025. The programme of new nuclear power stations could involve more than £15bn in investment and create around 11,000 jobs.

Earlier this year, Goodman secured a 20,000 sq ft pre-let to Gloucestershire Primary Care Trust, leaving one final 20,000 sq ft building available for occupation at Valiant Court. Other companies already based on Gloucester Business Park include Fortis, Direct Wines and Message Labs.

Located at the foot of the Cotswold Hills, Gloucester Business Park is easily accessible for both business travel and commuting. The park offers Grade A offices, logistics and distribution warehousing space alongside the M5 and A417 dual carriageway, providing fast access to destinations in the Midlands, North, Wales, South West and South East. It is also home to a host of amenities including a 24 hour Tesco supermarket, a sports and leisure club, hotel and restaurants.

James Raven, Development Director at developers Goodman, said: "In a challenging market, we have successfully let two complete buildings on the latest phase of development at Gloucester Business Park, and we are confident of securing an occupier for the last remaining space in the near future. The site is a prime example of Goodman creating an exemplary workplace which is home to a vibrant business community supported by retail and leisure facilities."
